Amazing to think such a plain spoken, dry, unimpressive-sounding guy could pen some of the most eloquent and spine-tingling things ever committed to the screen. That’s how a lot of geniuses are.

I always remember Stockard Channing’s remarks when she rec’d her Emmy role for the West Wing. She grinned and said she thought Aaron Sorkin was the sexiest man in America…. I can see what she means. Not to mention I like the way his mind works. Wish I were 30 yrs younger.

The man is indeed a genius. After watching The West Wing over and over again, it feels like I know him like an old friend. He always did come across as slightly unimpressive in these kind of interviews though, but that’s the case with many great writers; they’re all clumsy and shy and awkward in person, but give them a typewriter and they become brilliant men of the world.

It’s not that drugs make you a good playwright, it’s that the intellect and emotional faculties that allow you to be a good playwright make you want to take drugs.
