You have probably heard the phrase several times, “You are what you eat.” Have you ever really thought about what this means? And do you think when you are making food choices? In some respects, we can become what we eat, literally. Have you ever seen an example of your blood plasma after eating a fast food hamburger? What used to be clear liquid becomes cloudy with fat and cholesterol that is absorbed from eating a hamburger with high fat content.
And when you think, we also become what we do not eat. When we go to eat meat to a vegetarian diet based, we become less fat, less prone to many types of cancers. Our cholesterol levels can improve. When we will be more lean and eat fewer animal products, and many other health and fitness are reduced. The incidence of type II diabetes is reduced. Blood pressure is within normal. When you are in better health, you are taking less medication. Even if you have a prescription drug benefit in your health plan, you are still saving money with fewer co-payments on prescription drugs.
If you have a family history of high cholesterol or high blood pressure, then it is particularly incumbent on you to revise your eating habits. Moving towards a more vegetarian diet has been shown statistically to reduce the incidence of many diseases in industrialized countries. Vegetarians are statistically better health than people omnivorous, they are leaner and live longer.
Is it not time to think about what you want to eat and accordingly? Would you like to be fat and lazy? Do you want the risk that goes with eating animal products, with their high fat? Or do you want to look and what are vegetarians? Fitter leaner and with a longer shelf life early. It is never too late to change what you do and you increase your chances for a longer, better life.
